However, in the director’s commentary for the original film, found on the “Big Wave Edition” DVD release, it’s stated that Stitch was about two months old by the time of Jumba’s trial. 2D animation just isn’t as popular, apparently. I’d heard a rumor that when it came to Disney’s last 2D animation, Princess and the Frog, it had apparently earned less than Alvin and the Chipmunks and the higher-ups thought it was because it involved 3D. This rumor is bullshit, I’m pretty sure, but like, it does make sense.

With 2D animation, it is very difficultDisney Stitch Happy Thanksgiving shirt for anything to look realistic, or detailed, or the like, whereas with 3D it’s easier. You know those little 12-year-olds who once praised COD because it was so realistic and such? People just want more realism in animation, it seems. So, 3D animation is the better and easier option when it comes to making them, plus, it’s cheaper and faster because with 2D you have to redraw everything and with 3D it’s…just moving a model. However, I personally like it when the animation is more stylistic than realistic, because if you want to watch something realistic, just watch a live-action film.
