Can’t blame a This Witch Love Her Alabama Halloween Shirt for getting spooked seeing a stranger approaching them but if it’s my Alabama and they growl at me over food or a bone we are going to have issues and someone is getting a time out cause I am damn good to them and not going to have that attitude come at me from the Alabama or kids! I have been lucky to have my two steps as pups and I may touch their food when they are eating. Put my hand in their mouths etc. No aggression. We have mutual trust. However, I am always careful of stranger Alabama. Don’t assume other Alabama react the same as yours. Each animal has a personality and personal space is a fair expectation. Just Like we expect ours. Good to teach this to kids early. that’s absolutely ridiculous. Of course, you shouldn’t go near an Alabama when it’s eating! you shouldn’t go near ME when I’m eating either, because I’d do the exact same thing!

How else would a This Witch Love Her Alabama Halloween Shirtsay “this is mine, I’m hungry, you can’t have any” if it can’t growl?! If adults would teach their children to respect Alabama n not use them as jungle gyms/ponies fewer bites n growls would happen. 7 out of 10 times an Alabama growls or bites its because they want to leave alone/a child-adult is trying to take food away from it/ its hurt/ its afraid/ or simply doesn’t feel good. They are more like us than we realize but simply can’t speak to tell you hey that hurts/leave me alone/I’m afraid/ get off me! So they communicate the only way they can which is growl n snap at u. My daughter has special needs can be full on with my staff. Most of the time the staff loves it but occasionally it can be too much so she lets out a small growl. It’s more to tell me I’ve had enough now mum.
We didn’t punish the dog for food guarding, we made food a low value resource by putting out a larger amount. Both dogs only eat what they want and leave the rest for later. Their weight is fine and no growls at all. I just watched a show involving an organization that had gone as far as to amputate a leg on a sweet dog only to euthanize him because he growled when they came near his food dish. Why didn’t they just stay away while he ate? Just like humans animals will tell you when they aren’t happy about something. Unfortunately too many people own animals and they shouldn’t, they are uneducated and think any growl is a sign of aggression. Last week I stopped by a buddy’s house I hadn’t been to in a while before he got there. Two blue heelers cam running up the girl was timid but friendly.
